How do I find the right host family?
During your language study trip to Mexico, you will find out what life is like with a new family abroad. You will experience Mexican culture up close and you can improve your language skills. Our host families have many years of experience, which means they are used to receiving students in their homes. We will help you to find the right mexican host family so that your stay in Playa del Carmen will be unforgettable. It is therefore important that you inform us of any wishes and allergies in advance so that they can be taken into account.

As a language student, you can choose between breakfast or half board.
Our host families will prepare traditional Mexican dishes for you and give you the opportunity to get to know a new food culture. The shared meals at the kitchen table will also give you the chance to learn new slang words in mexican and improve your Spanish. The exchange with the host parents helps you to get to know them better and to become part of the mexican family.

Host family life
Our host families do their best to offer you a great experience and give you the freedom to plan your free time independently and without time limits. However you should be aware that living with a host family is not the same as living in a hotel. As in any family, you should clear your plate and contribute to the life of the host family.

​Furnishing
Homestay accommodation in Mexico has its own bedroom and, in many cases, its own bathroom. All rooms have a fan. A room with air conditioning can be booked for an additional charge.

Location
Families usually live 20 to 30 minutes away from Viva Idioma,Spanish School. The way to school can easily be done on foot by bike or by public transport .

​Host Family Gift
It is a nice idea to bring a small gift from your home country for you host family in Mexico. This is not a MUST, but your host parents will definitely be happy about it. You can find some examples of gifts below:

Probably one of the trendiest places in the world is Tulum. The coastal town located on the Yucatán Peninsula is known and loved for its endless white sand beaches and its relaxed atmosphere. A 50-minute bus ride separates Tulum from Playa del Carmen. A visit to Tulum is recommended for those who want to relax among Mayan ruins and Caribbean palm trees.
